How to read it
The most familiar measure of inflation, and the one the Bank of Russia's 4 % target is stated against. It is also backward-looking: it still contains what happened eleven months ago, so a turn in the trend shows up here later than in the three-month impulse.
How it is measured
Rosstat publishes only the monthly index, so the annual rate is derived by chaining twelve consecutive monthly indices. It requires a full twelve months of history.
