How to read it
A single month says almost nothing about the trend: it carries strong seasonality and one-off effects such as scheduled tariff increases. Read the seasonally adjusted series, or the three-month annualised rate, to judge the current impulse.
How it is measured
Rosstat computes the index over a consumption basket whose weights reflect household spending and are revised annually. Published around the 10th to 14th of the following month. A value of 100.4 means prices rose 0.4 % over the month.
