How to read it

Shows what happened to prices this month beyond the movement normal for that month. It is an index against the previous month: 100 means no change and 100.4 means a rise of 0.4 %. Compare it not with 100 but with the pace consistent with the 4 % target, which is about 100.33.

How it is measured

The seasonal factor is estimated from the ten calendar years before the one being adjusted, and removed from the monthly index. The window closes on 31 December of the preceding year and never includes the year it adjusts, so factors are fixed within a year and past values are not restated as new data arrive. A revision in this series comes from Rosstat, not from the method.
